Where Are the Opportunities for the Fastener Industry in 2026?

In the first three quarters of 2025, China’s fastener industry delivered an impressive performance.
According to customs data, total exports from January to September reached US$8.962 billion, up 7.7% year-on-year; export volume climbed to 4.673 million tons, an increase of 10.9%. Overall, Europe and the United States remain the primary destinations for Chinese fastener exports, with the U.S., Vietnam, Russia, Germany, and Japan ranking as the top five markets. Among them, Southeast Asia and Central & Eastern Europe showed the fastest growth.

As fundamental components of the manufacturing sector, fasteners are closely tied to global economic trends. Although the industry continues to maintain stable growth, the high-end segment is still dominated by foreign brands. The rapid expansion of automotive, aerospace, and new energy equipment sectors is driving domestic demand for high-performance, high-precision fasteners—pushing enterprises to accelerate breakthroughs in intelligent manufacturing, material innovation, and quality enhancement.
So, where can companies find new growth opportunities in the midst of increasing competition and pressure?
For 2026, three major opportunity areas are emerging:
- The rapid expansion of new-energy vehicles (NEVs) and the energy-storage industry, which is driving strong demand for lightweight, high-strength fasteners.
- Large-scale construction of wind, solar, and other renewable energy equipment, creating a broad market for large-size and high-reliability fasteners.
- Global supply chain restructuring, which continues to open new export opportunities for “Made in China” across emerging markets in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America.
Against this backdrop, industry exhibitions are becoming increasingly important.
Exhibitions are not only platforms for showcasing products but also critical gateways for companies to find partners, expand markets, and identify industry trends. For fastener enterprises, choosing the right exhibition often determines whether they can seize future market opportunities.
The Fastener Expo Shanghai 2026 (FES) will be held from June 24–26, 2026, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). As one of the world’s top three fastener exhibitions and the key indicator of the Asian fastener industry,
FES will once again upgrade in scale next year.
- Total exhibition area: over 70,000 sqm
- Exhibitors: approx. 1,400
- Professional visitors: around 25,000
- Halls: 1.1, 2.1, and 3, covering the entire supply chain from finished fasteners to equipment, wire, molds, and more
Beyond scale, value is being comprehensively upgraded.
In 2026, the expo will further strengthen key events such as the Fastener Equipment Purchasing Festival and the Distributor Conference, and introduce a new segment—the Low-Altitude Economy Fastening & Assembly Forum under the FJ Fastening & Connection Conference—targeting emerging application fields and helping enterprises explore future growth paths.
Additionally, the organizer will enhance buyer-invitation mechanisms with more precise matchmaking and business-connection programs. On the international front, purchasing delegations from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and South America are expected to attend, providing Chinese companies with expanded export opportunities.
The future of the fastener industry will not be smooth sailing, but opportunities always coexist with challenges. As the breakthrough points for 2026 gradually emerge, how companies leverage professional exhibitions to identify direction, build partnerships, and accelerate transformation may become the key to unlocking the next cycle of growth.
